I sing in a contemporary Christian band at church. We have quite a big sound system and a full band and track setup. I always thought Beta 58a that our church uses was dirty, but I always thought it had something to do with PA. I ended up buying a beta version of the 87a and was amazed at the clarity of the sound. Even via in-ear headphones, I'm finally very happy with the sound I get from this mic. Loud, quiet, speaking. It's like hearing your own voice, I think that's the best way to put it. Considering the price, I wasn't expecting that much of a difference from the 58a Beta, but it blows everything away. However, I might be careful with this mic if your singers are, um, less than professional? This mic will not hide any flaws like the 58.
