Review on Trohestar N6 Barcode Scanner: Wireless & Wired 1D Handheld PDA Portable Data Terminal for Efficient Inventory Management by Justin Santiago

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works great for the most part. The date/time stamp is exactly what I needed.

I give this scanner an overall rating of 4 stars because the scanner does exactly what I expect it to do with just a few issues. Adding a date/time stamp is what I really need, so I bought a second one. I would like to buy another pair but I have a couple of issues to watch out for. You must be in a quiet environment. The High Volume setting is no louder than the Low setting and not loud enough to confirm that the scan is complete. The red laser reader is not bright enough or strong enough when you are outside on a sunny day. We found a workaround by shading the scanned barcode from the outside. Tech support responded within 24 hours for help with setup, so 5 stars. The battery was impressive for the first few days but no longer lasts eight hours on a single charge hence only 3 stars. I find it easy to use, but it's not the same for everyone I've had to explain the setup to. This review is about two scanners and they both work the same way, good and bad.

Pros
  • Reads almost all 1D: UPC, EAN, Code128, Code93, IT25, Codebar, MSI etc. Supports ISBN and logistics number. Can read blurry or defective barcodes in low light. Support for manually entering non-scanned items or changing quantity. Variable terminator and prefix/suffix are supported. Note. The 1D laser barcode scanner cannot scan barcodes with spaces.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
