I bought this product from AMAZON.com just over a month ago. The price was incredible. The installation went with a bang. I connected it with an HDMI cable through a Denon receiver (AVR 2809CI). Initially I didn't have video streaming to my TV (52" SAMSUNG LCD, bought a year ago). Turns out the TV doesn't support 24fps, which is (at best) the factory default setting for a DVD player. Picture quality) After disabling this by going into the settings menu of this unit the problem went away I wish I had one of those new TVs, that support 24 fps. Still, the picture quality is amazing for a Blue Ray disc. Even with regular DVDs (not Blue Ray) there was a noticeable improvement in video quality (smooth picture and color reproduction). Even homemade DVDs (from videotapes) looked very impressive. The remote seems to be quite handy for all functions. I use the Logitech Universal Remote, so I can't say much about the user-friendliness of this remote. The loading time of the disc is also within acceptable limits. On the other hand, if you stopped it mid-show for some reason, the device doesn't remember the last stop point on disk. In this case it starts at the beginning of the program. So, to return to where you were last on the show, you've been looking at, you'll have to go through the menus and chapters. I found that pretty annoying. I used to have a SONY DVD changer and this unit always remembered the last break point of the disc and even if I played a different disc and went back to the disc I played first it would ask if it was at that point would start from where I left off the disc when I last played it. I wonder why this functionality was not included in the chipset of the DSP card on this model. I've also noticed that if a DVD has scratches or fingerprints on the shiny side, the unit will refuse to play that disc or freeze completely in the middle of a program. For my own edification, I took the same disc to my local branch of a national electronics store and played it on a $1,000 Denon Blu-ray player. and it reproduced the blurry part without any disturbance. I think you get what you pay for. So the general advice is to at least wipe the disc down before inserting it. Or it stops playing in the middle of a session, and if you take it out, clean it, and put it back in, guess what to do now. You have to go through the menus and chapters to figure out where you left off last time because, as mentioned above, he doesn't remember it. Overall I'd say it's a good experience with this device once you get used to dancing over its sharp edges. Oh, one final note on AMAZON. The product came out of stock pretty quickly as soon as the device was available (even with free shipping). However, the packaging was very poorly made and looked very worn and torn. Luckily, the unit came well packaged from the factory, so apparently not damaged (and luckily). I have bought from AMAZON many times but have never seen such terrible packaging. I must have been unlucky. but never seen such terrible packaging. I must have been unlucky. but never seen such terrible packaging. I must have been unlucky.
