Update: My rating is still my opinion but after 3 weeks of very careful use (my 4th pillow order) I discovered this ridiculously fragile thread used to make a small blanket - The dent on the pillow broke. This was my main issue, the last 3 pillows I bought but this one didn't even have anything on it other than resting my head properly on it. I now have an annoying 'shapeless bag of beads' that I can't do much about. The pillowcase seemed a bit too big or the pillows were less filled - the pillow in the pillowcase was spinning like in a washing machine. Next time I'll look for a different brand. I don't know why these pillows that use cheap styrofoam balls are so tiny and so expensive. Original post: I've suffered from horrible, incurable migraines my whole life. It's something with my skeleton and there's not much I can do so I'm doing what I can but the older I get the worse it gets. The last 3 years have been a nightmare, I've been waking up several times during the night having to change positions and making sure my head and neck are in perfect condition. I have literally bought and tried at least 20 different pillows in the last 2 years. . All the names you can name were there. Every trick you can think of is in the pillow, same thing. Firm, "supportive" pillows were rough because if your head and neck don't align in a normal line or curve, or your neck doesn't have a nice curve for you to sleep in the position you "should" are they just miserable . . Forcing the head and neck to be "right" when it isn't doesn't work. The only thing that really helped were the microbead pillows because they could be stuffed under the head or neck in some weird way. I've bought tons and the problem is always that what bit of sewing they put in to separate the beads into the pillow wears out quickly and you end up with a bag of beads in the pillowcase. They are usually smaller than a regular pillow, so even wrapping them in a pillowcase requires origami skills. Then I saw this pillow and sighed - ah, another Sack O' Beads pillow - but I noticed that they send you a pillowcase and their instructions say to always use the pillow WITH the pillowcase. You understand! O happy day. I can't tell you how amazing this pillow is. You may remember there was a version with shells, but these are microbeads. The pillowcase zips up and keeps everything in place. You can still smooth it out a little or flatten it out a little etc. but it's sooooo soft and like air. It's just perfect for keeping your head level with your shoulder (when sleeping on your side) and when you need to tilt or drop your head, or a little to the side depending on what kind of quirk you need to feel good, that shapes your needs. There are no hard edges forcing you to lie down a certain way. It's a little smaller than a standard pillow, but not so small that you could fall off it all night. You can turn from side to side and still have a pillow. Unless you have a cat who thinks everything is hers and you're lucky you even have a pillow. My only complaint is that this company doesn't make a sewn "bow" shape with decent thread that is strong and sturdy. No matter how careful you are, it will eventually weaken and you will end up with a bag of microbeads that are of little use because then there is too much space and no reinforcement. Fixing this design flaw would increase the lifespan, but this is possibly planned obsolescence. I have to change 3 times a year.
