This case offers excellent drop protection. We have children (DISARE CHILDREN) who love to play with my time. And I can honestly say that even after a few drops the phone is in pretty much the same aesthetic state as when I received it. Can't say much about water protection because I've never been unfortunate enough to find out. However, some disadvantages are related to the hull design. When the case is on, phone calls are dropped and, in terms of volume, very difficult to hear for both you and the person you're talking to. I end up having to remove the case just to speak to the caller. I'm not sure if this is due to the case interfering with the signal or if it's just blocking the speakers, but it does have a noticeable impact on calling features, including FaceTime. A small button is responsible for switching the silent mode on and off. Extremely difficult to turn. It also doesn't pair well with other accessories like the Apple MagSafe charger. Overall this is a great case for protection, just wish it didn't impact call quality. My wife and I bought the same phone, same case and no wonder we are having the SAME issues.
