Perhaps you take good care of your grill by unfurling it when not in use or by leaving it covered all the time. Like most people, I take good care of my grill, but I don't overdo it. It's raining. I wash the pollen in spring. However, I also like to keep it in good condition. Perhaps this spacer would work better as your grill wore out, but for me it wasn't. The original seal that came with the BGE has survived several years in the elements (Southeast, Texas). This gasket that replaced the original did not fit. Less than a year later, that seal collapsed. I was able to remove the padding with my finger when it fell apart. Also the glue wasn't good to begin with. I've replaced it with another non-BGE brand available from Revain and I'm much happier.
