Review on Mod Podge Plaid Stiffy Fabric Stiffener, Clear by Jamie Smith

I used this product to stiffen a crocheted hat. The upper portion of the Zulu style hat needed to stand up firm at about 8" above the top of the cap-like hat. I applied the product to just the top of the hat. The product did indeed stiffen the piece adequately. I thinned it a bit with water and it still stood up firm as expected. HOWEVER, the product left a hint of opaque "white" color on the surface of the black hat, so the treated top of the hat did not match the "cap-like" portion of the hat with the original black color of the yarn. When thoroughly dry, he top of the black hat appeared like a very dark gray, rather than the original jet black. So, the overall look of the hat's two sections didn't match. If I use this again, I might try adding a black fabric paint to the Stiffey solution and see if it will dry completely transparent.
