140mm DLED Fan Frame: You will need an adapter if not using JST-SM connectors.

UPDATE DECEMBER 5, 2020 FIRST Some people have asked if they are good with black fans. I painted the Noctua fan trolley white on the OUTSIDE, but not on the inside. The Redux models are dark gray on the outside and inside of the car and the fan blades are really dark gray, almost black. Check out the pictures so you can see for yourself. Yes, they are light. They should be better. They draw 0.72 amps EACH! Also, YES, they also illuminate the front of the fan when mounted on the back of the fan. They illuminate the front of the fan even better than the back when placed on the back of the fan. DO NOT INSTALL IT FRONT! They are designed to be carried on the back. Look again at the pictures I posted. Also note that my lights are always on at around 35% so they get a lot brighter. - First Review - I was so excited to get this. I have 4 Noctua 140mm Redux PWM fans that I want to install them on. I'm building my own setup and it's a white theme. So I needed to know if I could unscrew the LEDs from the frame to paint the frame white. YES, just a few small screws on the back. All goes well. . .wait what? So I plugged it into my motherboard's standard 4-pin DLED header, and what? The connector is not motherboard compatible but uses a JST-SM connector. So you need an adapter when you connect it to your MB. Therefore, you need to purchase it separately from Phanteks or another vendor. It's about 5 dollars. You can also make your own. In addition, the Pahnteks adapter has a socket that is connected to the MB riser. If you want to connect it to your MB's Y-cable extension, which is female, you'll need a female to male adapter. Here on Revane they are cheap. It's not Fantex's fault. There is no real standard other than that most digital LEDs use a JST-SM connector. (JST is the company and SM is the connector type.) Technical information. I learned from Phanteks tech support that all of the digital halos draw 0.72A each. That is, only at full brightness on WHITE do they consume 0.72 A.

Pros
  • Including fastening screws. The Halos Lux Series RGB digital fan case can be attached directly to the fan using the included fan screws, or to a fan mounted on a heatsink using UNC 6-32 heatsink screws.
Cons
  • Good but not great
