I think some of the bad reviews on here are just from people who don't understand the science behind it. This is designed to remove all dissolved solids from the water by using the chemicals in the resin to bind and then break down those solids. It's a chemical change, and eventually (which the company says is around 2000 TDS), yes, it will be exhausted. chemistry is over This is the limitation of how this resin works. It really doesn't matter how "good" this company's product is. I quickly imagine washing the car. As another reviewer said, for people with really hard water it would probably be best to first use a single tank reverse osmosis system to remove the TDS and then use it as a finishing touch to bring it down to 0. I'm lucky enough to live in New York (where TDS is about 45) so this works great. I don't use it to wash my car, but I use it to fill my humidifier with demineralized water (to avoid limescale) and also to drain the aquarium to remove carbonates. It works great for both. Installation was easy, no leaks (if you remember to use the lines provided) and has a high flow rate so it doesn't take forever to fill. Measure the water every time and it comes out 0 TDS every time. Straight from the tap. I don't even do pre-filtering. I've been using it for a week now and the resin is still blue so I think it will work. love it
