This fire alarm model BG-12L opens and resets with a standard hex key so you don't have to worry about losing a special key that will never be found become when needed. The fire alarm stations in our apartment buildings were metal, 40 years old and all rusted and welded with rust. None of them have worked so far. Installing these new stations was very easy as the screws are in the same places as the old ones which we took out and threw away. It seems to be the default and it helps a lot. The BG-12L is made from durable plastic and will stand up to the elements of the outdoors much better than the old metal stations we've had before.
