This set of Japanese watercolors is AMAZING!

This Japanese watercolor set is AWESOME! I LOVE IT!. The color is very opaque but can be thinned and get the look of normal water color. The colors are very bright. If you apply hard, they dry with shellac like glitter. The more you dilute them, the more they dry out with a watercolor look and texture. Paints are in individual containers that can be swapped out. I've seen replacements on other online stores but not on Revain; I wish they were available because I really like these colors. They will probably last a while because I use many different types of paint, but I know I'll want to use them again and again. The bowls have the name and color number, as do the dividers, but the box and colors are listed separately. marked in Japanese. There is no English color name on the box but a quick google search will easily show you the color names from reviews by other buyers who are buying from another supplier/shop or website whose kit comes with the actual color chart in English . . There is a color chart in Japanese on the lid, but it's just common sense to understand and fill with colors as each box that comes with it has a color number that matches the number on the divider and the number on the bottom of the pots! The shapes are separated by cardboard dividers that form part of the bottom of the box, minimizing cross-contamination of the flowers. However, the pans are not secured and if you knock over or drop the box they will fly out; there is nothing that cannot be attached with glue dots or magnetic strips (like some other kits). Also, I have noticed in other reviews from other sellers/shops or websites that some of these sets come shrink wrapped and some even come shrink wrapped; mine weren't. The whole set was actually packed in a plastic bag (the one that has removable adhesive on the end flap and the flap is folded back. However, my paints arrived intact with no problems. Shipping was fast and the item even arrived early.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
