Review on RCA DCM425 Digital Cable Modem by Rory Stice

Mediacom is the only Internet and cable provider in my area in Iowa. When I was told I would be charged $7 a month for modem rental if I didn't provide my own, I decided to read the reviews on Revain and buy the modem hoping it would would work. I ordered it and it arrived within a week before my service technician had to come and install my cable and internet. The installer came out to set up my services and said this RCA modem would work and set it up for me. Works perfectly! So I can't comment on the actual setup because the company rep did it, but he set it up in a few minutes. Of course he knew what he was doing! I see it as a payback within a few months so it was a good investment. It would be great if ISPs let us know which modems work with their service, or if modem people had a website that listed which ISPs their modems are compatible with - it would take the guesswork out of us!
