I was looking for a shredder that could do what I wanted, which was shred mail with my name and important info on it. In most cases it was fine as long as the mail wasn't too thick. If the mail contained cards or something thick and hard, I would separate the paper from the mail to let it through. I had a few leftover credit cards that I hadn't yet sorted out or passed on, and they went through like a tender steak. This unit has an overheat protection that stopped working and a red light came on where I had to unplug the unit to let it cool down. Although I didn't order with a basket, the leftovers went in the basket I have. There is a feature that is adjustable on a large rim basket.
