Review on Women'S Waterproof Rain Jacket Lightweight Hooded Raincoat For Hiking, Travel, And Outdoor Activities by Chelsea Mendoza

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It wowed everyone and left me quite impressed.

I do not normally take the time to review my purchases, but had to make an exception for this jacket. Our family was taking a trip to the mountains to include hiking to waterfalls and a white water rafting trip, and of course the forecast was calling for rain. It's summer and hot, so we wanted something lightweight but effective at keeping us dry when we need to be. It did great in its first test: keeping us dry during the rainstorms as we hiked around. But it was the white-water rafting trip that truly impressed us. It was rather chilly to be out on the water that morning so my daughter and I each decided to wear the raincoat under the life jacket while on the raft--we did not expect it to keep us dry from the rapids and wore it more to keep us warm. However, those Class 5 rapids soaked everyone--repeatedly--and we were amazed at how the raincoat just caused those splashes to bead up and roll right off the jacket! And then, as if it to prove itself, we reached a part of the river where our guide said the rapids were mild enough to swim through. My daughter said "sure thing" and jumped overboard--coat and all. She fully submerged and came up downstream after the rapids, and climbed into the raft exhilarated and DRY(ish)! The other rafters and I could not believe that she went full swimming and came up with her exterior coat dry, but she did! (In full disclosure, she was wet on the INSIDE--water went up the back of the jacket and down the neck when she went under so the interior lining got wet, but the outside was totally dry--water just beaded up and rolled right off.) For the money, we spent, we count this as a winner!

Pros
  • Beautiful color , great fit
Cons
  • The jacket may not be able to withstand heavy rainfall
