I installed these speakers on an insulated ceiling. I also purchased and installed appropriate enclosures to keep dirt from getting on the speaker cones. Accordingly, the sound quality is average. The speakers have a "hanging" sound that emphasizes the bass and makes the sound unbalanced. If you like heavy bass, these speakers could be perfect for you. However, if you want a more natural, more open sound, you should either avoid these speakers or install them without a housing at all. For comparison, I also installed a pair of Monoprice built-in "Caliber” speakers in an insulated wall. Since I wasn't afraid that dirt would fall on the speaker membranes, I installed them without a case. You sound very good. I'm amazed that I can get such good sound out of a pair of speakers that cost $33.
