We've had braces with a plastic fastener and I've always found them difficult to work with, partly because they took longer to fasten and I might have to support part of the mattress while I did. I have been using these braces for several months. I've only had one detachment during that time and when I reinstalled it it held until the sheets were replaced. I also find them easier to use because I can clip one end to the corner of the sheet, slide over it, and slide the elastic underneath so the clip comes out the other side. It then clicks into place very easily and I can often do it with one hand. My biggest concern was that the clamps wouldn't hold in place, but so far that hasn't been a problem. Assuming they last as long as the garter set, I'd rather buy them again.
