Today I opened up my fan and it was clearly in use! It already had dirt on the clip and stains on the face of the fan. The instructions were also thrown into the box and folded up as if someone had already read them. I didn't want to mess with sending it back so I deleted it and saved it. It works well. It blows great and the sound is perfect but as others have said the clips that hold the fan to the big clip don't hold very well. He had already started to fall because I pushed on him lightly from the side. I think I should go ahead and buy some white tape and seal it well so my husband doesn't get a concussion in the middle of the night. As for the used fan, it could at least have been cleaned and repackaged before reselling it!
