Review on Enhanced Brother HL-L3230CDW Compact Color Laser Printer with Wireless and Duplex Printing, Amazon Dash Replenishment Ready by Micha Pirecki ᠌

There are disadvantages, but the product is usable.

They took to replace two Canon LBP 5050 color lasers - each served 4 years. Chipless cartridges and "easier than pie" refills (see earlier reviews) played a decisive role in choosing the Brother HL-L3230CDW printer. We use it for printing manuals when working with preschoolers - super quality is not required there. I caught an unpleasant surprise from marketers together with programmers - like, look what a cool printer, non-chip cartridges, everything changes easily, but in fact it turns out that you can reset the toner counter only 1 time + somehow he still has to determine that he needs a new cartridge instead of the old one they put it in . Why does the user need the opportunity to easily fill up the toner if it is impossible to reset the toner counter and the printer "hard" demands to replace the cartridge? The benefit of "light filling" in this case loses its meaning. Keep this in mind when choosing a printer.

Pros
  • Print speed. The print quality for a laser printer is good. Two-sided printing. Easy Wi-Fi connection. Unchip cartridges. You don't have to disassemble much to fill the toner. The design makes it easy to change any wearing parts.
Cons
  • 1. The main drawback is that even though the cartridges are not chipped, you can reset the toner counter for each starter cartridge only 1 time! And then - we go to buy new cartridges. There is not much information on the reset method on the Internet, but the one that is often not relevant. There is no special wheel on the starter cartridges, which is used to "reset" the toner counter on "foreign" videos. In general, I could not find information about the second reset. The unpleasant thing is that the printer, at the end of the toner (in its opinion), simply "blurs" and does not print anything. On the old Canon LBP 5050 with chip cartridges, it was better in this regard - even with "crutches", but it was possible to print (put out the "fire"). 2. Sometimes it gives an error - something like "there is no paper in the printer", although there is a whole mountain of it. You have to correct the paper several times before he continues to print. 3. Not all drivers can correctly set up duplex printing - it does not respond to the choice of binding location (top, side). 4. The print settings in the app on the iPhone are rather poor and do not provide enough flexibility. It is not possible to print multiple photos or documents on one sheet. There is no image brightness correction. You have to do this in third-party applications, which is not convenient, or put up with the fact that the print is dark + increased toner consumption.
