Very thick handles did not allow to close the door.

I have purchased two other over the door shelves in the past and have used them with no problems. This shelf is of good quality, the only problem is that the door handles/hooks are made of thick material. I tried several doors but the thickness of these handles did not allow the doors to close. I assume this will work if there is a large gap between the door and the door frame.
