Yes, it's rusty, it's cast iron.

Yes, rusty as it is made of cast iron. I took the time when it appeared after 1 day to stain/treat it properly. After 1 month outdoors and sparrows drinking (never seen while bathing; maybe too shallow) the lid has broken/torn off. I thought maybe one of the screws was a little loose, but no, it broke.
