It was difficult to figure out the fit as the sizing info for China and US is confusing. I ordered based on a description of a change from a smaller Chinese size to a US size and it backfired. I ended up sizing down for a better fit. Once I got the right size I felt comfortable and the zipper didn't interfere when fully unzipped. The vest does the job by adding buoyancy, but while swimming I found the bottom to rise and pucker and I had to stop between laps to take it off. It's good for limited purposes, but for short-term needs, it will get the job done for a minimal cost. I used it for training and competition in my first triathlon and am happy with it for that matter, but if I needed something of regular use I would probably invest in a one piece wetsuit rather than a vest/short option.
