I used a zircon pin finder from a big store, but it didn't always find pins, and it wasn't always easy to find edges and blind spots. This one is very convenient and easy to use, with a clear display that shows the left, right, and center edges. I haven't been to a commercial building in a while (Covid) so I haven't checked out the steel stud finder. However, I like that there is such an option and I think it will be easier than using a magnet. There is also a light that illuminates to alert you to the presence of an electrical wire in the wall. The light and dedicated AC mode cuts about 8 inches from the wire, so not good for tight cuts, but still way better than my non-contact wall voltage tester. If you are familiar with common wiring methods, you can make a reasonable estimate of where the cables are located, and if not, you can avoid getting into those areas. In short, it allows you to quickly lay walls and ceilings.
