Good blender for beginners

For the price I'm not sure it could be better! I haven't used any other blenders, but just about every blog and recipe site will tell you that you just can't make a good smoothie without the famous $400 blender. Not right. This thing purees frozen fruits and herbs to perfection. You may need to use a little more liquid than the recipe calls for, but I've had no problem making smooth, creamy, and delicious smoothies. Quick Tip: Banana, avocado, nut butter, and yogurt can thicken your smoothie a bit to make up for the extra liquid. In fact, I just threw random crap at the blender while looking for recipe ideas. Haven't done anything bad yet. This struggles a bit with frozen fruit, but I've found that chopping them into smaller pieces really helps. I cut cabbage fine, but whole spinach leaves and green sprigs are fine. Some might fret about having to chop them before mixing, but that doesn't bother me at all. Just don't expect to throw in a whole frozen banana and you'll be fine (although a whole banana will mix up at room temperature!). I think this is the perfect blender if you like getting your feet wet in smoothies. without shelling out hundreds of dollars. You really can't beat the price for what you get.
