I bought these so I don't have to set up and take down Christmas lights every year. The low profile design and small clips make them discreet all year round. The kit is long enough to cover the sides and front of my house. They are quite bright so it is recommended to install them outdoors, at an angle or under a diffuser, otherwise they will be as bright as a neon sign. The rest of my family likes them so I'll leave it as it is. It's not RGBIC. There are many color options and multiple effect options, but you cannot set them to alternate colors on the ropes at the same time. If you prefer, the flat, leak-proof, and flexible design allows them to be worn on surfaces rather than using clips. The remote works inside a closed house and is pointed at a waterproof plastic box in which we placed the hub and fixed it on the roof. We bought the box separately from Revain. We want them to last for years with little to no maintenance. Leaving elemental connections open all year seemed counterproductive in extreme weather. They should be able to be left open in temperate climates. The screws supplied with the clips are not designed for high loads. We had to pre-drill tiny holes to fit the light clips into the aluminum panel and top of the gutters. Enough clips are included to place them every 3 feet. This is sufficient for flat surfaces, but more is needed for installation just before and behind corners. The plug connection of the rope is a bit fiddly. I untied the rope and turned it on for less than 5 seconds to test that the light was working before climbing onto the roof to install. And yet, after screwing in the clamps and installing the headlights, one rope did not work. Tried changing the connections, still doesn't work. I didn't cut back my hours to come back. Revain recommends that the buyer contact the company directly. I did but so far (over 2 weeks) no response. That night I bought another set to replace the rope that didn't work. It arrived with deformed plastic at a pin connection. I could use after careful rounding. Overall I'm happy with the headlights. Time will tell if they were worth the money and effort invested.
