I use it when I recline in a bed or chair. My neck started to hurt from looking down for so long. This elevates my iPad to eye level for a more ergonomic position. The only reason it's a 4 and not a 5 is my personal preference. I'd like a little lip on one or both sides so things don't slide off when I change positions or put them aside to stand up. Otherwise it works great! UPDATE: I turned it over and put my iPad+ stand on the soft side. Now it is stable and secure. I can wiggle it while it's on my lap and put it down and it won't move an inch. Prrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
