When the outer sleeve of my old Xbox 360 controller's joysticks started cracking/falling off, I thought about buying a new controller but didn't want to spend extra money and I just really liked my old controller. It was the perfect solution, allowing me to keep my existing controller but with joysticks that felt better than new ones. And now I have a lot of spare parts for the future. The replacement covers are a little tricky to install, especially if you cover the existing rubber/silicone coating like I did. Some people seem to peel off the old finish, but I like to leave it on so it's a tighter fit and less likely to slip. Just make sure that no part of the rim of the silicone sleeve wraps around the underside of the joystick (be sure to check the full length of the stem) when you put the sleeve on - if you do, it's nearly impossible for a sleeve to do so. slip away.
