Device looks "slim". it's easy to install (win7, 64bit - the disk hasn't been used, let win7 download the drivers), it picks up the signal well at close range. The device just didn't have the range I was hoping for. I'm using a Netgear n600 dual band router - it's about 55 meters from my office where the computer is located (HP DV7, Atheros Ar5009 wireless adapter). this Belkin adapter got the same reception as my laptop at best. often the laptop got better. (There is a fairly straight line between my office and my house - 55 meters away. The router is on one side of the house, my office is in a separate building - wooden structure with aluminum windows - on the opposite side of the house. ) Me sending it back to amazon.com because of the range issue - everything else is fine with it. PS I started with a basic Netgear n150 shared router - it seems to have the same range as the dual band n600. the n600's 5GHz band does not reach the 2.4GHz band. After upgrading to the n600 and not getting exceptionally good signal strength, I decided to try this Belkin adapter to hopefully improve reception.
