Mixed feelings about this mixer

Was hoping it would be an inexpensive alternative to the trendy KitchenAid mixer. It's a solid machine, although it looks like the sewing machine on your counter and the motor seems to struggle at times (on heavy, sticky dough). The panels are easy to remove and clean. But after more than a year of use, here are my "cons" for your consideration: If you're used to a traditional wide-bowl blender and like to dip and beat a spatula in the bowl while blending, the steep and narrow bowl is steep is 8.5 inches in diameter, making it very difficult. You need to stop the machine, lift the lid, and then empty the bowl. And repeat. And repeat. Additionally, when you work with fewer ingredients like butter and sugar, they don't mix well and get stuck at the bottom of the bowl. So again you need to stop the mixer, lift the paddle and scrape the bottom of the bowl to make sure the batter is mixed. Plus, the black plastic disc over the scoops (like the guard of a squirrel feeder!) catches the ingredients you add (e.g. flour mixes), creating a mess that needs cleaning up. Not a great design. The on/off button is also poorly designed with grooves that keep baking residue like batter away from your sticky fingers etc. This product has a "good" rating, but I probably won't buy it again.
