I figured more would be better when I ordered the FatMax. You would think that a blade almost 1 1/4 inches wide would be pretty tough. However, when the blade is in a vertical position, such as up to a line on a wall, the blade tips over and collapses, expanding only a few feet. Today I tried to measure 10 feet to the bottom edge of the siding while standing on a ladder. After repeated attempts, I couldn't get the Fat Max to lay flat and grab the bottom edge of the siding. I have an old tape measure with a blade that is only 7/8 inch wide and can be pulled out nearly 4 feet horizontally before it breaks. The length of the case is also not specified for the FatMax, which would be useful for internal measurements.
