Most people find it unreliable, but it's secured in the trunk with two Velcro straps, but can be removed. When washing the car, whether by hand or in the car, simply remove both side panels and put them in the trunk and put them back in as soon as your vehicle is ready. It takes less than 3 minutes with someone to help or 5 minutes alone. Would recommend to anyone looking to save money on bumper repainting. It adapts to the size of your car's bumper, not the size of the car. I have a BMW 328xi and someone from the 7 series could use the same size. My car is considered medium sized. This is my fourth because I give them away and also recommend them.
