I was specifically looking for a mini pc with dual M.2 SSD slots for dual boot when I saw this Beelink GI5. Intel Core I5 with 4 cores/8 threads is more than enough for my project, so I bought it. I am very happy with my purchase. The packaging was very impressive, with a very "Intel" look throughout the box. I was surprised at how heavy the little box was. I've had several mini PCs, but they are very light. After unboxing I got the answer why it's heavy, the body is all metal with a very nice premium finish. That's a good thing, because the metal absorbs heat well and dissipates it. I immediately noticed 2 LAN ports as they will come in handy later as a backup for my dedicated firewall on my home network. The initial setup was very quick and easy, the processor was strong enough, all updates were installed very quickly. I set everything up for better performance in just a few minutes. 4K video playback from this mini PC is excellent with no stuttering or buffering. 16GB of memory is great for multitasking multiple productivity apps. My main workstation is 32GB, but I think 16GB should be the minimum these days. Opening two instances of Chrome, each with a dozen tabs, was no problem on this small PC. Playing on this mini PC is possible for some games, I could play CSGO and Asphalt 9 very smoothly, other games with similar hardware requirements should also work. The fingerprint reader is handy in that it makes logging into Windows easier and faster, although in my experience I'll probably get 2 out of 10 read errors and I think that's acceptable, other people's experiences may vary as our fingers are different. I tested this mini PC with Cinebench R20 and it is inferior to other 8th gen Intel I5 processors, but I was surprised at how this PC stayed cool under full load. M.2 slots and 2.5" HDD/SSD bay open for additional storage. Please note that the primary M.2 slot is NVME and the secondary M.2 slot is SATA, so choose M.2 SSDs accordingly. I'm currently waiting for my M.2 SATA SSD, but I tested Ubuntu 20.10 and all the hardware worked fine. I will dual boot this mini pc for my projects with Ubuntu and Parrot. After a few days of use, I'm amazed at how powerful this mini PC is, it's an Intel I5 and it's considered average in terms of computing power. , something that can be used in the office or at home to increase productivity. A great option if you work from home and being small enough to carry around in your bag makes it easy to take to the office so I can use the same computer. I am considering buying a tote bag for this purpose. Overall I'm very impressed with this little beast. It is first-class processed and has enough power for everyday computing tasks. This mini PC is a great option if you're looking for an everyday desktop that doesn't take up much space.
