If you know how to knit, purl, add and subtract, but nothing else (like me), give this book a try. I can't believe I'm knitting in a fan pattern. I played with the lace pattern and got a little better with each try. This book is perfect for me. I can take basic knitting skills and turn them into something beautiful. Any yarn can be substituted as I only use synthetics. Also learn "Fair Isle" or pattern knitting. I found the instructions and pictures very clear and helpful. I agree that this book is for the beginner or basic knitter (like me) ready to branch out. I'm glad I bought this book. It helps me learn more knitting patterns and become more confident in my knitting.
