I love the concept of this item. Unfortunately, the magnetic feature is a bit hit or miss. I thought it would be perfect for developing fine motor control and learning the proper strokes for each letter. When using the (very small) magnetic stylus on one letter, young child will often impact a adjacent letter. Sometimes a a magnetic ball it not raised when gone over with the stylus which can build some confusion. I think it misses the mark on an educational scale. Now, we actually did end up finding that this was a very soothing activity for an acquaintance with Alzheimers. She ended up with it on her lap after a young one put it there and abandoned it. She started randomly moving magnets up and down and was much less agitated. Surprising plus. We gave it to her and her family and it has been very beneficial for her.
