This has helped improve our child’s writing

We are practicing our letters and this has been perfect, my little girl has had fun with this so this has kept her going. I’m glad I purchased this because it’s kept us from not only wasting people but from keeping her interested!I would suggest this to anyone who is working on letters with their little one! We’ve seen improvement already.

Pros
  • I like that this product is easy-to-use and it has a pen slot so the pen doesn't get easily lost
Cons
  • The tip of the pen was broken after my kids used 3 times.

A great sensory tool

We love this Magnatab for developing writers! The magnetic pull of the pen teaches toddlers and other emerging writers the right way to form letters, in this particular board, uppercase letters. There is a fun, sensory feeling to the magnetic pull, and all three of my young writers loved it. It’s great practice for those who might resist traditional pen and paper and would be at home in an Occupational Therapy setting or classroom.

Pros
  • Toys & Games
Cons
  • May not withstand heavy use or frequent dropping

Love the concept: my feedback

I love the concept of this item. Unfortunately, the magnetic feature is a bit hit or miss. I thought it would be perfect for developing fine motor control and learning the proper strokes for each letter. When using the (very small) magnetic stylus on one letter, young child will often impact a adjacent letter. Sometimes a a magnetic ball it not raised when gone over with the stylus which can build some confusion. I think it misses the mark on an educational scale. Now, we actually did end up…

Offers sensory feedback for writing practice

This Magnatab toy offers a sensory experience for learning to write upper case letters. The tablet has a magnetic pen that stores in a slot at the top. When children trace the letters with the pen the metal balls snap up and make a satisfying clicking sound. You also feel the pull of the magnet on the balls so it helps reinforce that you are tracing along the dotted line. To erase/reset the board you can either use the side of the pen or your fingers to press the balls back. The tablet seems to

Great for distance learning

This is a great tool for my kindergartener. She's learning how to write letters, and this helps guide her hand. She enjoys using it and I see her hand writing is improving with practice.

Pros
  • 1 pounds
Cons
  • Potentially overpriced for its limited value

A solid educational toy

SUMMARYThis is a fun and clever toy that can really help kids learn their letters. It certainly captures their attention initially but after 2 days it doesn't seem to be interesting any more. For longer term interest I would suggest the Magnatab that is more of a doodle pad. It is a durable toy and looks like it would stand up in a classroom. However, the magnetic stylus is not attached to the rest of the toy and could very easily be lost.FULL REVIEWKIDS COMMENTSMy kids want you to know that…

Pros
  • EASY CLEANUP—The beads are magically "erased" when pushed down by the tip of a finger or the swipe of the side of the stylus.
Cons
  • Limited opportunities for social interaction

Great learning toy good for me

I love this - not only did I get it for my own child but I have gifted it to others. This is such a creative way for a child to learn how to write in a tactile/sensory way. The included magnetic pen easily picks up the balls into the allocated spots. There are numbers and arrows showing the lines that make up the letter and the direction and order in which they should be written. So much better than the sandpaper letters I would trace my finger over as a child! The only drawback I feel is that…

Cons
  • May take up significant space for storage

Useful learning tool

My daughter has a disability (Down’s Syndrome), but she has always enjoyed "doing her homework” which was typically tracing out letters with pencil or pen on paper. I got this to see if it would be more available to use (we were constantly running out of her pre-printed pattern sheets). So far she seems to enjoy it.You move the pen over the letters, which pulls little balls up to fill holes and hold there magnetically. When you are done, you sweep your fingers over the letters and push the…

Pros
  • With the Magnatab, kids can learn the alphabet at their own pace and receive positive reinforcement as they progress
Cons
  • Limited opportunities for building spatial awareness or visual skills

Hours of quiet entertainment!

My 3YO is obsessed with these! We got this one and the number/shapes tablet, and it keeps her so entertained! We bring it to restaurants, car drives, anywhere. I love that it’s compact and can slip on my tote bag, and it’s not an animated tablet. Will be giving these to friends toddlers!

Pros
  • Your toddler will love it!
Cons
  • Limited value beyond basic letter recognition

Great interactive way to work on letters & writing

This is such a great tool for working on letters and writing. Some of the letter "steps" that are numbered are not how I write them but I honestly have no idea if I was taught that way or I just started writing them that way. These boards could also be a great busy toy for the car as well as the possibility of classroom use.I haven't had any issues with the metal beads or the stylus function. My daughter has really been enjoying the see, feel, and hear aspect of using this board. My one wish…

Pros
  • The Magnatab is perfect for children who struggle with traditional learning methods and need a more hands-on approach
Cons
  • May not provide sufficient entertainment value for children

My kids loved learning with this

Okay so I have 2 toddlers a 3 year old and a 4 year old and this was such a great choice for teaching my kids the alphabet and writing they sometimes thinks learning is boring but when I showed them this awesome learning toy they wanted to learn right away teaches them the alphabet / letters and writing so this is definitely multipurpose I highly recommend if you are trying to teach your kids at home like myself

Pros
  • PLAY ANYWHERE—Great for use at home or in the classroom
Cons
  • Limited language options for non-English speaking families

Great writing learning tool

My nephew is just starting kindergarten and this is a great tool for him to practice writing his letters. Using a "pen" is a great sensory way to help enforce how to properly write the letters . The "pen" is easily and securely stored at the top. You can turn the board sideways and the pen stays in place. Great design on holding the pen.The magnets are pushed down by running your hand or the pen over the letters, but I found that clearing it was easier with using the hand. You can also hit the…

Pros
  • With its durable design, the Magnatab is built to last and can withstand the wear and tear of daily play
Cons
  • May not provide enough of a challenge for more advanced learners

Hard to write with - my new review

The magnets get stuck, so you have to have some added wrist strength to use this that you wouldn't need to just write letters on paper. It's not a great tool for practice, since it's kind of hard to use and you can't flow like you usually can with paper and pencil writing. Regret buying it for my 5 year old to practice.

Pros
  • UNLIMITED POTENTIAL—Children use the stylus and follow the arrows to practice writing letters!
Cons
  • Magnet balls may come loose and pose a choking hazard

Great for fine motor

This is one of those toys that works well with lots of different ages. Our toddler really likes the process of pushing the beads back down. Our preschoolers like using the magnetic stylus to bring them up. And our elementary kids have actually practiced writing.Great for fine motor skills at multiple ages. It's kind of zen if you want to use it as a grown-up too!

Pros
  • It's an excellent tool for children who are visually or hearing impaired to learn the alphabet
Cons
  • May not be durable enough to withstand daily use

Surprisingly Addicting

I ordered the lower-case version of this as my first ever magnatab product. I wasn't super impressed when it arrived - it's just a bunch of letters with little magnetic balls in them that the pen pulls to the surface of the board, there wasn't anything "wow" about it. After having that board for a while though I found that it was oddly addicting, myself and the kids like to drag the pen over the letters and then push the little spheres back down again. So, I figured I'd order the upper case…

Pros
  • It's the perfect sensory activity to help kids develop their motor skills and hand-eye coordination
Cons
  • Limited opportunities for imaginative play

Big Letter - my new review

These little boards are excellent practice for little ones. They do make a little click clack he sound, but are otherwise quite quiet. They’re easy to use. My little ones love them.

Pros
  • Magnetic Letters & Words
Cons
  • May not be a sufficient tool for learning handwriting

Helping my 4.5 year old

My 4.5 year old son doesn't enjoy practicing tracing letters on paper very much. This is a great solution to get him started because he has a lot of fun with it!The pen brings up the little beads as they trace and there are directions on the board about the order in which to trace each letter. When done, the little beads can be pushed back down. The pen attaches to the board when done but it isn't attached permanently with a string so expect to lose it once in awhile. Being attached with a…

Fun way to learn letters

I have a 4 year old daughter and she loves using this! It is helping to show her how to properly write her letters. I really love how light and portable it is. She will pick it up and easily practice her letters on the couch while watching tv or while I am cooking. She also really loved pushing down all the little balls after she is done! Great idea!

Pros
  • The Magnatab is a great investment for parents who want to give their children a head start in learning and education
Cons
  • Limited opportunities for real-world application of letter recognition

Our 2 yr old grand nephew is a genius!

This says for 3 and up but our little guy took to it right away. Loves tracing the letters and is learning his alphabet super fast. Yes the balls to stick occasionally but if you just flip it tap it lightly they fall back down.

Pros
  • Some of the balls get sticks at times but great fun for child and parents
Cons
  • Limited educational value compared to other learning activities

Our kids love these!

I don't know what it is about these, but both my kids (and their friends) LOVE these Magnatabs. Even I find myself playing with them! The sensory input of the little magnet balls (the sound and touch of them) is weirdly satisfying! We've had ours a year and both kids (2 and 5) still play with them regularly, and my oldest references it when practicing his writing.

Pros
  • The Magnatab is made from non-toxic materials, making it safe for kids to use and handle
Cons
  • Limited opportunities for kinesthetic or tactile learning
