Savior for nails. Serious.

Buckle up, this is going to be a long review but I'm sick of the bad reputation fake nails have. These really are lifesavers. Yes. You save your nails. These are the best fake nails I have found. They go best with the nails I'm most keen on covering - they don't have the extreme arc of nails that aren't marked as 'active' and best of all, they're not too short! This means I don't have to file my nails before applying. If this statement confuses you, I'll explain: I wear them to PROTECT my nails. I've been using Kiss Nails for about a year now and I think the quality is excellent. However, I have never used any other brand. I don't wear artificial nails all the time, and lately I've been wearing them less and less. The reason is that I only wear these nails when one of my real nails is broken, when one of them is damaged or weak (and I'm afraid it might break), and during periods of hard work. I work in an office and the busy seasons involve a lot of paperwork, typing and just plain reckless dealing which is not conducive to maintaining strong and beautiful nails. However, I didn't always have strong, beautiful nails. In fact, I wouldn't say my nails are very strong. A year ago I tore a tendon. I couldn't touch anything with my left hand for months. This caused my nails on my left hand to become very long and seemingly strong. The nails on my right hand are also longer, but my nails break quite easily, especially when not polished. BUT - with these fake nails on top YOU WILL GET LONG AND STRONG. Most people think that false nails will ruin your nails, but that is NOT true. Here's how to do it: 1. Do not rub the strip from the top of the nail. Don't polish it at all - any uneven surface can really help when it comes to proper adhesion of the glue. I push back my cuticles with either an orange wooden stick or one of those rubber cuticle pushers, usually after washing my hands to soften them up a bit. No need to go crazy with cuticles here.2. Find the nail closest to the nail you are covering in arc shape. This means if you put a fake nail on top of your real nail and look at it from the front (not the top), you won't see a big gap between your nail and the fake nail. However, this may mean that those particular nails (Active Square) are not the best shape for you. But trust me, the arch is the most important factor when it comes to fake nails. In fact, I want them all to be medium to long because they're so easy to file that there's really no need for "short" nail sizes.3. File the artificial nail to the desired width. That means sometimes, depending on your nails and which nail, you end up using one that's the width of your thumbnail for your index finger. For example, my index fingernails are flatter and less curved than my ring fingernails. Alcohol swabs are your best friends. For real. I use them for EVERYTHING. But mainly: to clean the surface, the sides AND under my real nails AND THE underside of the fake nails. **Make sure you do this AFTER you have filed the WIDTH of the nail to the desired size (but NOT the length - I repeat, not the length).5. Wait about a minute and don't touch anything with your freshly cleaned nail. Oil is everywhere and always. Your skin, your hair, even your clothes, I guess. You don't want anything to interfere with this short process. So wait literally 1 minute.6. SUPER GLUE! The bottle of glue I actually got with it - well, I couldn't open it. For me it didn't matter since I don't use this nail glue anyway. Instead, I use Kiss' nail glue, which comes in a bottle that looks like nail polish. Not only do I find this glue to be the easiest to apply, but I have NEVER come off a nail. JE. And I left them on 2 weeks ago (which I know you shouldn't but I actually forgot I was wearing a fake nail).7. Open another alcohol swab, leave it alone. Paint your real nail with glue, then paint your fake nail, and then press the two nails together with the ALCOHOL PAD. Now I'm very thorough. I don't leave a single unglued space when it comes to fake nails. So there is ALWAYS some glue spilling out. And if you're not ready with an alcohol swab while pressing the fake nail against your real nail, you're going to get stuck yourself. So you need to have an alcohol swab ready. And you must be willing to delete it. Press down firmly from the center of the nail, squeezing until your fingertip hurts. You will get over it and you will be fine. It's worth it. You do NOT need air gaps - because if water gets in there it's game over and you'll probably get mushrooms or something. I haven't had fungus or any other weird nail disease and I attribute that to my air tightness (my hands are often in water - my showers are ridiculously long). OK, that's all. TA Dah! You have an artificial nail! REMOVAL: Buy one of these sponge nail polish remover jars. Pour out the liquid that is there, go to the pharmacy and buy their brand name acetone. Not Kutex. Nothing out of the ordinary in terms of sound. Easy. ordinary Boring. Effective. Acetone. No frills. Acetone only. Then fill the jar with this material. When it's time to remove the nail (voluntarily OR because its seal is no longer tight meaning water can get in, and yes you'll need to replace it if that's the case): just stick the nail into the jar , let it sit for 30 seconds and then just wiggle your finger. It turns off after about 1 minute. If not, you're doing it wrong. Attached is a photo of my nails, which I painted about 8 days ago. I paint my nails TERRIBLE. And at this point I had to redo them because they look rough around the edges - as you can clearly see in the photo in question. But I'm including it to show that fake nails don't have to look fakeโ€”as long as you file them properlyโ€”and that they can help your other nails grow, too! There is only one false nail in the photo. Dare to notice (hint: it's the one with the perfect looking cuticles). Notes: The reason my nails and nail polish last so long (and probably make them look like chicks in the photo) is because I paint the edges and underneath. I do this with a base coat (OPI Natural Base), color coats, usually two but sometimes one (I think I used Essie's Blanc here) and top coats. And then a day later I add more top coat (OPI Speed Dry, Essie's Gel Topcoat [not real gel] and Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri in a RED bottle). I apply a top coat until my nails look weird - sort of like they are now. BUT they don't chip. And they don't break. You are strong as a rock. And they are amazing. By the way, I also restore furniture, often work with wood and sandpaper, wash dishes and wash my hair every day - and my nails are still awesome. I am a Benny Benassi video in progress. Bye! UPDATE 9/17/2016: THESE NAILS ARE STILL BEAUTIFUL. So great that I now have to find an even LONGER alternative to nails because one of my natural nails broke and my other nails are so long that they ONLY fit my real nails. I also WISH I could buy individual sizes - I seem to only use sizes 5 and 6. It's worth buying a whole pack just for these sizes, but I have a lot of extra fake nails that I'll probably never use. I got creative and used a few larger sizes (4 and 3) and filed the sides, bending them into a big arch and they matched even better than the regular size 6, mainly because 4 and 3 are longer. . Anyway, just thought I'd throw it in there. Hooray LONG NAILS.
