Review on Sceptre C248B 144RN: Edge Less FreeSync DisplayPort, Curved Screen, 165Hz, Built-In Speakers, Frameless Design, Blue Light Filter – LED Monitor by Jon Villareal

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It's great when you get one that works

I bought 4 of these for 4 computers I built for my kids for Christmas. Of the first 4 delivered, 3 worked fine and 1 didn't reach 144Hz, only 60Hz. 144Hz was grainy on half the screen. Revain contacted Specter Technical Support over the phone and they were very accommodating and approved shipping a replacement monitor on Christmas Eve. Everything was great until the other monitor (one of the original 3 on the left) just stopped displaying (a flashing white, red, green, blue, black screen) which I later discovered was probably a broken wire somewhere in the monitor . It was within 30 days so Revain covered it with a monitor replacement. 6 weeks ago and everything is fine now. It's a great monitor for the price, but a 33% bounce rate is questionable to say the least. I have monitors from Samsung, NEC and Acer that I've had for over a decade and have never had a hiccup. of course, they were probably twice as expensive, if not more so. So, a quality display if you can get one that works. Make sure you test it when you receive it. If it doesn't work, you can get it as a replacement 30. Otherwise, you'll need to return it if it's within the first year of the Specter warranty.

Pros
  • Curved Monitor The curved display offers a revolutionary visual experience with its leading 1500R screen curvature as the images seem to envelop you for deep immersion.
Cons
  • The monitor backlight is too bright.
