Review on Boxtech Submersible Aquarium Heater 100W by Cara Ulfass

I thought long and hard about which heater to buy for my daughter's new 5 gallon aquarium and settled on this one. What a winner! I have been running aquariums for decades and heaters have always been such a problem. They need to adjust well and most importantly be reliable, which is why I usually trust Eheim Jagers (of all the controls I've used in the past, the controls are so reliable). But in any case, I've always sacrificed the aesthetics of my aquarium because it's big, bulky, and ugly. For a small, sleek aquarium like my daughter's, I can't possibly have such a dominant trait. So I went looking for something small, maybe even hidden in the filter compartment of the aquarium, and found this little man. This is fantastic! It's so small, aesthetically simple, and even fits in a filter housing, I can't see it all! I even ran 2 thermometers throughout the day to ensure even heating between the filter housing and the main tank. The current was good so I was in 1 degree F. So perfect! Pros: Very compact, does not overload the aquarium. Good management! heats the tank with pinpoint accuracy, I don't notice temperature fluctuations of more than 0.5 degrees during the day. External control, no control on the heating element is great, don't worry about them sticking together. Looks good and hides well. Cons: I don't know yet, durability. As of 03/2019 I haven't owned it long enough to really be able to judge its durability. And the equipment was not sufficient to be able to really judge others. To give it the green light I expect it to last over 5 years as I expect that from any good heater before proactively replacing it before it goes bad. I really hope it lasts because I love this thing! Update 9/20: Having owned two of these for about 2 years now, I'm impressed. they are still working. They also still maintain a great constant temperature. There was no temperature drift on the thermostat that I had to compensate for like other heaters I've had.
