Assenmacher Stud Removal/Installation Kit

Excellent tool. Works perfectly. An Assenmacher 10mm bolt remover/installer made repairing my Chevy K1500 exhaust system a breeze. I easily pulled six studs out of the exhaust manifold. no drama I was concerned that the tool would damage the threads on the new bolt (Dorman 675-216) as it was inserted. After installing the first bolt, I threaded a thread (M10 x 1.5) through the thread - the tool rotated easily without binding. I screwed in the other five bolts without any problems. The cap nuts were applied and screwed on as intended (compressing the coil springs). A few notes: The 5.7L Chevy exhaust manifold bolt shanks are 11mm in diameter; Threaded parts 10 mm. I wanted to grab the shank, not the threads, but I didn't have a 7/16" (11mm) tool. As it turned out, that wasn't necessary. These cleats are hardened and very strong - I'm not sure whether softer metal rails could withstand the squeezing of three tool jaws. Also upon removal I started by slightly tightening each bolt (yes, counterintuitively). This helped destroy the "weld". In other words, I got the cleats turned both ways I've broken them before and had to remove the manifold (and worse, shut the engine off!) The studs must not be drilled out of the assembled manifold Not enough room to get a straight straight line with any kind of club To get shot. Also the day before the repair I soaked the studs with penetrating grease. It was useless because no oil got into the threaded area. The marks on each stud were dry after removing. The anle Itung says not to use an impact wrench. I used an 18" breaker and slowly rotated the outlet. It took a bit of muscle power, but with that much leverage, it was easy enough. If you don't have an aces maker, double nut bolts could be screwed on, but my chains were too caustic to allow for that procedure. Save yourself the heartache - get an uninstall/install utility.
