The new version does not include an adapter, which means you can no longer charge your 3DS. The old version is suitable for 3DS and an adapter connected to a gamepad. Now it just fits in the block. The cable does the job, but there's no way of knowing if you'll be getting a new or old version of this cable, but for some reason the product page mentions both without saying what you're getting in the mail. So if you're looking for a pad and 3DS cable, buy this cable knowing you won't be able to charge your 3DS.
