Review on πŸ”’ Efficient Prime Line 2014 Mortise Lock: Reliable Spring-Loaded Mechanism by Ryan Olsen

garbage mechanism; Spring value only was

This product is a sealed mechanism with many internal parts rubbing against each other. But for some reason it's completely unlubricated inside, squeaks horribly in use, and also has some adjustment screw issues that cause everything inside to freeze when fine-tuning the lock gap. Basically it's garbage; not even worth the modest price of $8. If your spring was broken like mine, you can disassemble the original and replacement spring with a screwdriver (do not unscrew PRY) and replace the new spring with the broken old one. I did exactly that, added some grease to the old parts and pressed everything back with pliers. Now the original locking works better than ever; The rest of the new mechanism just went in the trash. They should all save time and only sell replacement springs and installation instructions.

Pros
