I got this because when I'm really cooking up a bunch of different dishes, especially a Thanksgiving feast but also when I'm just cooking up a couple of sides in addition to the main dish, the spoon rest I have is too small. This sorts that issue out without taking up much counter space, and looks good enough to be left out all the time.This spoon rest is made of ceramic and has a very smooth white glaze on it; it's heavier than plastic or thin metal so large ladles can't tip it if leaned across the edge, and big enough that even my larger spatulas don't drip off the sides. That also makes it big enough that I can put two or three wooden spoons on it, or two pieces of the silicon utensil set I use for most of my cooking.The swirl motif in the center is both a positive and a negative to me; it gives the piece a little bit of interest and helps to lift the spoon out of the worst of the drips, but it also makes it slightly harder to clean up if the drips were a sticky sauce. I think the positives outweigh the minor negative, but others might cook more sticky stuff than I do and think differently.Overall, this is high enough quality that I'll be glad to display it in my kitchen for years to come, and since it's solid white, it'll go with any new color scheme I might decide to adopt in the future.
