Bought for my 1978 Scout II 345 with Prestolite distributor. I didn't see the instructions in the package I received. As it turned out, no one needed! I just put the parts in, replaced the old ones and returned the distributor to where it came from. Everything just worked. No calibration, no gaps, no manipulation. Of course, this assumes that you know the basics of uninstalling and reinstalling a distributor. My old lady now has a new spirited spirit and ignition failures (due to electronics module degradation) are a thing of the past. Be careful after installing this unit, the ignition must not be left in the "on" position when the engine is NOT running. Most of us don't do this anyway, but it's easy to forget when we take our car for brake service or any other shop service. Stick a note on the dashboard as a reminder - in the worst case, it can literally melt both the coil and this module. Not. Forget. Also, if you have a CA model, you should know that while your original unit has 3 wires, this replacement unit only has 2. This is normal, and yes, there is a CARB number for this unit so it can be used. The 3rd wire (white) is just hidden somewhere on the side. It was some kind of RPM sensor, which is not supported. UPDATE Spring 2018 - Almost 2 years later it still works great in my '78 Scout - would buy again!
