3 AAA batteries lasted me just over 3 weeks before needing to be replaced. I use a front bike light to hike the Appalachian Trail. We used the light for about an hour each night, mostly for setting up camp, so three weeks was good for us and certainly bright enough to illuminate the surrounding area as well as the campsite. A red lantern was used on my back. pack if you go out at night. The lighting was good enough for every vehicle and indeed mountain bikes to see as we approached a spot or two that they were using. I am very satisfied with this set. They seem to be quite durable as the front light has been dropped a few times without getting damaged.
