Neither the Apple rep nor I understand why, but I breathed a sigh of relief When I found out this is not a problem on any of my MacBooks.Ports I subsequently tested ALL (for video and USB storage/data) at the Apple Store.After verifying that there were no faulty hardware/ports on my Macbook, I still like to use this cable for my desktop monitor.
