
It has been a long time since I found a book on pattern making that I found as fascinating as this book. Fit, commonly called Slopper, what do you do with them? Most of the designs I see on the street, in catalogs and in stores are so easy to make that the design process is not complicated at all. But there are a few designs that make me scratch my head and think, 'How did they do that? "I call them "pattern puzzlesβ. This book is full of those drawings. Each is unique but beautifully illustrated and explained in one to three pages. Tomoko never shows more than three pages of illustrations. How to make even the most complicated and unusual design is a form-fitting bevel. I love seeing her use the women's beveled bodice, which I now use in my online modeling courses. It has a bust to the waist and an armhole. In my experience, this dart configuration provides the optimal way to achieve a precise custom fit. I also find it the best tool to visualize how to create the lines of an original design so you can convert a 2D shape into 3D. It's for prototyping design ideas on paper so you can put the shape together before you even touch needle and thread.Tomoko also shares another side of me. Step to develop design ideas with scale clothing forms. All photos in this book are half-scale dummies. Caveat #1: These designs are unusual. If you're looking for the ordinary, this isn't for you. But if you go beyond "I wouldn't want to wear that" and move on to "What can I learn from this pattern making technique" I think you will greatly improve your pattern making skills. Instructions. I would recommend that if you try these ideas, do what Tomoko does and try them on a scale first. If you don't have a large dress, fashion dolls like the ones Tomoko works with are a great way to experiment. Bravo Tomoko - I can't wait for your Volume 2 to be translated into English.
