I could not find curtains of the correct length at any department store near my home. I ordered these because I often work over night shifts and I am extremely sensitive to light when trying to rest. These do a great job of blacking out the sun and keeping the heat in my house. They do not 100% block out the light but it gets very close. The curtains themselves do not allow light to pass through the fabric, the only light that escapes is from the sides, and top of the rod, but that sees to be more of an issue with how my window was built. I live in Wyoming and it easily reaches -50 degrees with wind gusts of 60+ mph. I can feel the cold air from outside cling to the curtains, but this winter I have tried to keep my electricity usage down and am only running the electric floor heater in my living room. These curtains help keep my 2 bedroom apartment very toasty despite only one of the four total rooms in the house having the heat on. I have a white long haired cat and for some reason there seems to be no real static present because his fur will not stick to it. I have a ledge on the wall that runs under the window like a sill and my kitty sits in the window daily. Overall I am very satisfied and would purchase this brand of curtain again, if I ever need to.
