My husband and I built this for my son's room. Since his room is on the second floor and my son didn't like sleeping in his room, we rarely used this changing table and preferred to use the one in the downstairs bathroom. or twice a day to keep the coating from peeling off. At first we mostly just touched the top railing so I covered it with a blanket but now it even comes off under the ceiling. I'm starting to worry that this has to do with security. Tonight my son grabbed one of the railings while I was changing his clothes and when he removed his hand his palm was covered in tiny flakes of cheap braid. I'm afraid he'll end up swallowing it. I can only imagine how this table will withstand a child chewing on furniture. I think we paid $70 or $80 for this piece of furniture (I usually save that for something more permanent). Knowing what I know now, I would estimate the cost to be in the $20-$25 range. It looks great right away and would be good for a real estate agent staging a home that's not actually lived in. However, it doesn't stand up to even very light use and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who intends to really use it.
