Fitting the rim tape was easy. The tape lay well on the rim as expected. I used a brand new inner tube, fresh out of the box, bought at a bike shop. After mounting the tire on the rear rim and mounting the rear wheel on the bike, I road tested the bike several times by riding up and down the curb. The inner tube is cracked. I disassembled the tire, blew out the tube to see where the hole was and found a hole inside that would abut the rim. The hole was round and small. It looks like a pinprick. I checked the tape. The pins didn't pierce the tape, although they were definitely sticking out. I'm assuming the spoke punctured the hose, but I'm not a bike enthusiast or expert, just a regular guy who wanted to get his bike working for the occasional ride.
