We haven't camped in over thirty years since our tent collapsed on us after many days of rain. So "waterproofโ was an absolute must for us. After a lot of research (so much that our eyes crossed), we bought an NTK Laredo. Lucky for us, because eleven of the twelve days the tent was pitched, it rained and there was a strong wind! The tent went up great. There was a small seam leak of about a tablespoon which I later discovered was my fault. I attached two guy ropes to the very back of the back panel, which opened up the seams. A quick fix was to tilt the guys backwards (about 45 degrees from the centerline from the door to the back wall). The problem is solved. The tent is huge. We had two fat double beds with a card table and chair in between with space for gear. The rain fly certainly did its job in the constant rain and downpours which meant we didn't get to 'fly' and stargaze at night. The ventilation was good. Most of the tent itself is 'invisible' mesh with about a three inch gap between the rain cover and the tent so there are no mosquito or bug issues AND good ventilation. One consideration is that we set up this tent last fall. At the end of the twelve days it was quite cool. Therefore, the level of comfort can vary greatly when installed in summer or in hot, humid climates without a fan. Haven't done it yet. As the weather got cooler we installed a Mr Heater Buddy 4000-9000 BTU and it worked really well. The rainfly flies almost to the ground, so I use this tent in winter without hesitation. Some reviews have criticized door zippers. A zipper rises from the bottom to the top and continues from the top. Another zipper opens and closes at the bottom. With practice, I was able to open the top zipper with one hand (very handy when carrying items) without snagging the material by placing the tip of my thumb or finger between the zipper tongue and the tent fabric. I then usually went through without unzipping the bottom zipper unless a large item needed to be inserted or removed. It probably won't work as well with kids. ;-) I agree that it would be nice to have a stronger zipper. Overall this is a well designed and built tent with good materials that performs great even in inclement weather. what would i change Tent Pegs: They're pretty weak. Do yourself a favor and buy stronger ones. They are not expensive Zippers: Stronger (described above) Door(s): I would put a door on the back wall, a mirror image of the front door. If you are in your tent at night (or during the day) and you hear a strange noise, an animal, person or people, etc., you can open the sash on the door and see what is there. If it's coming from behind you have no way of seeing what it is without going outside and walking around the back of the tent. It also helps with an emergency exit. Perhaps in the future they will develop and release a two-door model. All in all we love this tent and would recommend it to anyone. No hype - really 100% waterproof as advertised.
