Review on πŸ”§ Dorman 604-107 HVAC Blend Door Actuator, Black - Suitable for Specific Models by Maurice Cunha

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fixed issue with no air escaping from front panel vents

I usually only buy Delco OEM AC parts but since it doesn't control anything major and Delco is twice the price I figured I would would there be try Dorman. If it didn't work I might return it to Revain. My problem was that sometimes when I turned on the air it wouldn't come out of the front vents but you could hear the air making a loud whistle. This actuator controls where the air exits (legs or faceplate). Mine was basically stuck between the vents so it blew into the dash. The swap on my '96 Chevy C1500 Silverado was easy. Three screws and you can use a 5.5mm or 7/32" socket. My factory drive connector has two extra pins that this one doesn't have. However I don't think they are connected to anything as this solved my problem as there is no air coming out of the front vents and all other functions work as they should. The hole that grips and pivots the door is plastic, not metal. Of course, I would prefer metal over plastic, but that's not a mechanism that works in difficult conditions, as it simply moves a small door. Now there is no problem when I change the airflow direction knob on the air conditioner control panel. It does this silently, rather than hearing the little cog work like it used to when it worked properly.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Some issues
